WESTERN HEMLOCK

Scientific name: Tsuga Heterophylla

 

Western Hemlock can reach a height of 60m and a diameter of 2m or more, with a straight bole that is often clear of branches for about three-quarters of its length.

 

The timber of western hemlock is pale brown in colour with a llovely slightly shiny finish with aovely straight grai ln and fairly even texture, 

 

Hemlock has been neglected but it’s a non –resinous and  economical alternative to Larch and  is suitable for external use. 

 

Common uses:  Cladding and flooring
