NORWAY SPRUCE
Scientific name: Picea abies
Norway Spruce A large, fast-growing evergreen coniferous tree growing 35–55 m with a trunk diameter of 1 to 1.5 m. In our fantastic growing conditions Norway spruce can grow up to 1 m per year for it’s first 25 years, slowing down once it tops 20m.
Timber: Is a pale cream and is strong with a straight grain and a fine texture.
Common use : Since the 1800s Norway Spruce has been grown to produce timber for joists, rafters and flooring, furniture and boxes, and to make paper. Norway spruce is also grown widely and used as a decorative Christmas tree.
